Eighty-seven acres of estate vineyards are now planted
on Hillcrest Orchard; most planted to cabernet
sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot, the varietals that
are main ingredients in RoxyAnn’s claret. Other
varietals now planted are reds such as malbec, petite
sirah and tempranillo. Hillcrest Vineyard is one
of the warmest in the Rogue Valley. Grapes for
RoxyAnn's white wines, pinot gris and viognier, come
from other, cooler vineyards like Don and Traute Moore’s
vineyards and Pheasant Hill. Others come from the
Willamette Valley. Hillcrest
introduced RoxyAnn Winery in 2002.
Its mission was, and is, to
produce world-class wines, while supporting the Parsons
family's commitment to preserving this land for future
generations. Both the orchard and the vineyard
honor the agricultural heritage of this land by insuring
that both are cultivated under sustainable land
management practices. The natural character
of the estate can be tasted in the ripe, concentrated
wines of RoxyAnn -- wines that possess rich color,
complexity and concentration. The wide variety
of wines produced here are all created by winemaker
extraordinaire Gus Janeway. In addition to the
wines of RoxyAnn Winery and his own personal project
Velocity Wine Cellars, Gus is also in charge of a custom
crush program at the winery that makes possible the
tasting of other wines as well with a single visit to
the Hillcrest Barn and tasting room. No matter
whose wine he is producing, Gus' winemaking philosophy
rests solidly on a balanced and gentle approach to
preserving the unique attributes of the sourcing
vineyard in each bottle. Inside the
historic Hillcrest "Honor" Barn, RoxyAnn Winery and
Hillcrest Orchard welcome visitors daily with a blend of
hospitality, wine tasting and produce sales. In
fact, many say the patently friendly and informative
staff are the secret to making RoxyAnn Winery the most
memorable of their Rogue Valley winery visits.
Consider bringing a picnic
and enjoying it while overlooking the vineyard and
orchard from the surrounding beautiful gardens. Selected RoxyAnn
Wines RoxyAnn
practices a gentle approach in its
limited-production winemaking... an approach
that encourages balance and elegance with the
unique attributes of each vineyard used.
Vineyard Manager Jon Meadors and Winemaker Gus
Janeway combine intelligent vineyard management
and skilled artistic expression in the winery to
produce RoxyAnn's distinctively Southern Oregon
wines. 2005 RoxyAnn Claret Dark, plush and deeply concentrated, the estate blend
of 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, and 27% Cabernet
Franc is a luscious, complex wine that showcases layers
of ripe currant, black cherry, and blackberry fruit
flavors. The 2005 Claret is an elegant wine that holds
its focus and gains complexity on the palate with juicy
plum, anise, and mocha flavors giving way to sweet
barrel spice and fine-grained tannins in the long, rich,
flavorful finish.
2003 RoxyAnn Parsons Family Reserve This wine
honors the Parsons Family, who have owned and farmed the
historic Hillcrest Orchard and Vineyard since 1908.
Selected from the estate’s most exceptional vineyard
blocks, our reserve blend pays tribute to the family’s
continued commitment to agricultural excellence in the
Rogue Valley. Massive, ripe and deeply concentrated,
with lots of juicy cherry, currant, plum and spice, this
blend is richly flavored and beautifully structured,
with a deeply concentrated core of currant, black
cherry, cedar, anise and coffee... should age with ease
for another decade. 2005 RoxyAnn Merlot Produced from the estate grown grapes at RoxyAnn, the
2005 Merlot opens with aromas of lush violet-scented
currants and decadent ripe black sweet cherries. This
rich debut wine offers an elegant softness with
concentrated flavors of vanilla, plum and black cherries
accented by polished notes of caramel and mocha-coffee
lingering effortlessly on a supple, smooth finish with
lively acidity. 2005 RoxyAnn Syrah Produced from the estate grown grapes at RoxyAnn the
2005 Syrah displays a deep and vibrant purple color with
generous aromas of perfumed spice and loads of ripe
blueberry and blackberry flavors. Dark and juicy, this
wine is polished and smooth with mild tannins behind a
chewy mouthful of concentrated blackberry, cherry and
white pepper accented with lavender blossoms and a
gentle touch of spicy oak on the long, lingering finish. 2007 RoxyAnn Pinot
Gris
The 2007 offers expansive aromas of ripe pears, peach
and grapefruit with vibrant, citrus acidity that
accents a silky texture with elegant notes of creamy
pear and spice that lingers on a balanced finish that is
long, crisp and refreshing. 2006 RoxyAnn Viognier Produced from grapes grown at Pleasant View Vineyard,
Lakeside Vineyard, and RoxyAnn Estate Vineyard, this
stunning Viognier displays a beautiful bright golden
straw color with inviting floral notes that bloom into
enchanting aromas of pineapple, guava fruit and spiced
lemon zest. The palate is rich and creamy with luscious
flavors of ripe pear, honey, pineapple and peach.
Tropical flavors and crisp acidity pervade the long
multi-layered finish, adding notes of coconut, caramel
and exotic spices.
