More Chardonnays for Summer Sipping
When you're looking for a rich and flavorful Chardonnay
to pair with lobster pasta dishes or a fine King salmon filet, turn to
John Abbott's Abeja bottling. The nose is buttery with aromas of
citrus, pear and earthy-toasty oak forming the chorus. A symphony
of tropical flavors greet your palate, while balanced acidity makes this
a superb food wine.
Lange has been sourcing fruit from the fine Freedom Hill
Vineyard southwest of Salem since 1990. This Chardonnay is 100%
Dijon clone 76 and shows great character from its pedigree. Aromas
of Asian pear, apple, Meyer lemon and vanilla lead to flavors of pear,
ripe apple, citrus and spice. It is a very food friendly wine to
be paired with your finest
Jesse, Wendy and Don Lange
This refreshing white blend hails from the famed Connor
Lee Vineyard located at the east end of the Wahluke Slope AVA.
Look for aromas and flavors of citrus, melon and honey with floral notes
and hints of Asian pear and fig. Great food wine for light meals.
Kiona was among the very first wineries to plant vines on
this now-famous ground. Their estate Chardonnay has always been a
favorite of long-time Northwest wine lovers, featuring bright citrus,
honey and pear fruit with notes of vanilla and toasty oak. The
palate is clean and balanced and responds well to light chilling before
enjoying with light summer fare. Check out their nifty new visitor
center when you're touring.
If you haven't been to Maryhill Winery's spectacular
location above the Columbia Gorge, you should check out their website
and make plans to attend one of their concerts or other special events.
While there, taste this great value Chardonnay, offering aromas of
apple, peach and light tropical fruits. The palate is bright and
easy to enjoy with flavors of light vanilla, pear and baking spice.
This second-tier wine is named for Michael Taggares'
longtime vineyard manager. The nose offers bright and spicy notes
of Asian pear, pineapple and citrus with floral and earthy notes.
The palate offers citrus flavors and a firm mouthfeel that does well
with food accompaniment. This refreshing, unoaked Chardonnay offers just the right balance of tangy mineral and citrus offset by luscious ripe pear, apple, honey and melon. Good structure in Chardonnay is hard to find these days, so buy a bottle and discover how Northwest wine can shine without barrel fermentation. # # #
