Columbia Gorge Wineries will be offering specials all weekend for Memorial Day, including special releases, discounts, food and more! Nowhere else exists a place as visually stunning, full of outdoor adventure, wildlife and wildflowers, and with vineyards and eclectic boutique wineries throughout its many diverse microclimates. Meander along winding roads past vineyards, waterfalls and stunning scenery to some of the Northwest's finest wineries. Take a walking tour of downtown Hood River, where seven tasting rooms open their doors for the weekend. Book a tour, visit the historic downtown of The Dalles, and taste wines produced from grapes grown a stone's throw away. Taste varietals ranging from Pinot Noir to Syrah, grown in the Gorge. The Fruit Loop isn’t just about some of the world’s best tree fruit, it’s also home to fine vineyards and wineries making award-winning wines. Micro-climes created by soil, slope, and elevation allow the growing of a variety of all kinds of grapes, and the area’s quality tree fruit and berries get into the act, too, as primary ingredients for delicious specialty wines. Sat & Sun June 29 & 30 9 am – 7 pm	Gorge Windfest Weekend. Windfest Weekend is the Northwest’s only windsurfing and SUP demo event. Bring the family for this free event and check out all of the latest windsurfing and SUP gear along with demos, free pro clinics, free beginner lessons, great local food, beer, and wine, raffles with prizes, and races. Sat & Sun July 20-21 Times TBA	The Hood River County Fruit Loop. Cherries are a favorite of almost everyone, and cherries are the focus of Hood River Cherry Celebration. The annual celebration of the luscious fruit falls during the heart of the Hood River Valley cherry harvest season. Find more than a dozen varieties of fresh-picked cherries at Fruit Loop farms along with delicious cherry products, including cherry wine, cherry jam, cherry pies and desserts, and much more. Choose a selection of ready-picked cherries, or pick your own at a U-pick orchard. There are lots of other attractions along the Fruit Loop, too, including wine tasting rooms, lavender farms, cute alpacas, gourmet products, delicious food, and much more. Sat & Sun August 3 - 4 9 am - 6 pm	Van Gogh Days. Celebrate sunflowers! Some 70 varieties of the bright blooms are growing in the farm’s huge flower gardens. Paint or photograph them, cut some to take home, or just enjoy the joyful nodding of their bright heads. Sunflower recipes, desserts and surprises, too. Enjoy a quilt show and sale, wine tasting from Hood River Vineyards, food, vegetable games, treasure hunts, and live music in the afternoons. Free admission. There is a wonderfully diverse selection of fruit and produce available. Find late season cherries and early season apples, including Gravenstein apples, considered “the best” by many for pies, applesauce, and desserts. There are also berries, a variety of stone fruit, and a wonderful selection of summer produce. Enjoy fields of sunflowers, zinnias, dahlias, and more colorful flowers. Pick some to take home. Savor delicious food, including BBQ, delightful baked goods, gourmet food products, including jams, jellies, syrups, dried fruit, tasty ice cream, and much more. At least 18 different varieties of fresh pears are available at farms on the Fruit Loop, along with pear wines, live music, artisan foods, pear desserts, BBQ, lavender farms, baby alpacas, and other attractions. First Friday of every month	First Fridays. Hood River’s First Fridays are a co-operative effort between downtown merchants and local artists for the benefit of everyone. Artists will be on hand to create, display and sell their artwork, and musicians will be playing at a variety of locations throughout the area.
