Annual Wine Dinner at Duck Pond Cellars.   Join us for a 5-course feast paired with Duck Pond and Desert Wind wines, prepared by local chef Gary Puetz.  Chef Puetz is the author of “The Seafood Steward” and is the executive chef for Pacific Seafood, the largest seafood distributor nationwide. Hot Summer Night Cruise-In.  Have you spent countless hours waxing, rebuilding, and maintaining your prized vehicles? Then this is the perfect event to show off all that hard work. Enjoy a summer day at our vineyard with fine wine, hot cars, BBQ, and oldies music from J.T. and the Tourists. Think your car is the hottest out there? Great prizes will be awarded to cars in four categories: Best Classic Car, Best Hot Rod, Hottest Paint Job, and Best in Show.

$5 admission fee per person over 21 to the event includes Riedel wine glass. Additional $5 entry fee per car for contest. Admission is complimentary for Oregon Wine Guild members. ZAP GRAND TASTING & BBQ!  After a 12-year absence, ZAP is finally returning to Portland!  ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates & Producers) produces an enormously popular wine tasting event in San Francisco that annually draws thousands. This year they are also taking the show on the road, doing a smaller version in both Seattle on July 26 and Portland at the World Trade Center's outdoor plaza on July 29th. ZAP is partnering with Portland Uncorked and the Oregon Culinary Institute to include a “BBQ Cookoff Competition.” 10 future chefs have been selected from the Culinary program, each firing up a grill to create and serve a delicious BBQ appetizer designed to go with Red Zinfandel. The winner of the “People’s Choice” award for what works best with Zin will receive a special prize from the wineries of ZAP!   The Northwest has only a few producers of Zinfandel, while this grape flourishes in California and is now being called “America's Heritage Wine.”   “Northwest wine enthusiasts will have the rare opportunity to try over 100 Zinfandels from approximately 40 wineries,” explains ZAP’s Executive Director, Rebecca Robinson, “tasting a rainbow of Zinfandels from a wide variety of regions throughout California.”  Tickets:  $40.00. The Oregon Grape Stomp Championship and Harvest Celebration.  Purple feet!! It's our 19th Annual Oregon Grape Stomping competition-have you got what it takes to make it to the World Competition? Make a reservation for a stomping time for your team of two: one stomper and one swabber. Battle it out together: the team who produces the most juice qualifies for the World Grape Stomping Championship in Santa, Rosa, CA! The team with the most creative costume will receive a Private Tour and Tasting for 10 people, along with a wine essentials package. Come celebrate with the WVV family as we begin the 2009 harvest and enjoy fine wines from our Tasting Room.

Harvest Jazz Concert.  Join us in celebrating the 2009 harvest season with the. Brasil Beat featuring pianist, Bill Beach. This promises to be a wonderful show, both evocative and lively, blending the rhythms and emotions of jazz with Brazilian sounds and playful beats. Tickets $20 includes free Riedel wine glass. The 2009 Northwest Food and Wine Festival.  Prepare to Meet your Maker! Your winemaker that is!  At The Northwest Food and Wine Festival. Step onto a floor filled with tasty wines and gourmet foods from restaurants and manufacturers. Pick up a glass and prepare to sample, taste, smell, and swirl! Find those great wine values. Savor some fruit at the chocolate fountain or Oysters and Seafood with a great pinot gris!  When the doors of the Grand Tasting open at the Memorial Coliseum, guests will receive a commemorative wine glass and be welcomed to a show floor filled with over 800 wonderful wines and more than 60 fine dining and gourmet epicurean offerings. Annual Hood River County Fruit Loop Cherry Celebration.  An adventure with activities for the entire family. Farms offer many varieties of fresh-picked and u-pick cherries, wines, lavender, jams and other cherry treats. Many farms feature picnic areas. In addition to the orchard-fresh fruit available all along the loop, some Fruit Loop farms serve up special activities or attractions for Cherry Days.  Admission to most Fruit Loop farms and attractions is free, and most are open from at least 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (some have shorter or longer hours).  There is free parking too.
